I was shooting at the range 2 different types of .270 winchester factory loads and got consistently tighter groups at 100 yards with the flat bases, though at 350 yards both types of ammunition reached steel targets similarly. So I am thinking of getting rid of all of my stock of that specific boat tail ammo and buy the flat bases which gave me better groups.
If I get tighter groups with a flat base at 100 yards, the same would happen at longer ranges or boat tails tend to hold better at those ranges (both bullets have the same weight and the flat base has a slightly better ballistic coefficient)?
