Hello from Scotland

Yesterday the British parliament had a free vote on a bill to ban hunting with dogs. Britains MPs from all partys could vote as they wished and sadly the vast majority voted to BAN fox hunting with hounds also other types of hunting with dogs.................

The city slickers are the majority now fewer and fewer people work on the land or are envolved with rural activities unfortunatly this leads to mass ignorance and a "Beatrix potter" veiw of wild life as people have lost contact with nature.

I fear this is only the first step, hunting with dogs first, then driven Pheasent shooting and duck hunting etc and finally fishing !
It might sound crazy to you yanks but ive spoken to these guys...........
they even see fisherman as SCUM ! Sadly the fisherman who are large in number gave the hunters NO support as they see them selves as better less "blood thirsty" trouble is the anti's do'nt !

So finally to finish other wise i could go on all night take this as a warning........ You may think "it could never happen hear" thats what we used to think ! And perhaps your right- Now, but what about in the future ?

I am totally disgusted with our politition's and the double standards, they preach tolerance and understanding of minoritys and then close their eyes !

Regards "sad" Englander

P.S- Any jobs going in Canda,Alaska or New Zealand i need to off this over crowed little Island.

Englander,

Interestingly, your comments are probably similar to all our antecedents here in the States that left "home."

You're welcome, anytime.

Hi Englander,
I did see on the news that the british government have banned hunting foxes with dogs.  Wow, that’s amazing considering fox hunting this way has been a british tradition for centuries.

Well if your serious about looking for a job down here in New Zealand you could try :   www.seek.co.nz      www.nzjob.co.nz  or  www.nzherald.co.nz

As for hunting in N.Z goes, you can hunt just about anything you like with dogs. Pigs are 99% of the time hunted with a pack of dogs. I’m at the moment training a young dog for my deer stalking.  Deer, pigs, goats, possoms and rabbits are all introduced to N.Z. They are classed as pests and can be hunted all year round with NO licence or quota. Just a permit is required to enter a state forest and that’s free!!!!! At the moment the GREENIES are leaving us alone, as the hunters are seen to be protecting our native birds and forests.  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://beartoothbullets.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

Ok, Englander since last night, we've  chartered a 757 and we're all going to New Zealand!  There's one seat left - hurry up and reserve.

Well yesterday the bill went to the house of Lords who "rejected" a full ban on hunting with dogs and voted in support of a licenced hunt system ! The goverment now has the choice to force the bill into law with special powers or except the compromise ?
Ether way the "writting is on the wall" and oppression of our "RIGHT" to hunt will continue at an ever faster rate.

Quiet 1 thanks very much for the links i will give them a good looking at ! Perhaps i might see you one of these days ?

Englander,

Not so many years ago, the liberals banned bear and cougar hunting with dogs here in Oregon.  The West part of this state is more populated than the East part, so the city slickers down there sway all the votes here.  Ignorance is what it is.  Nowdays most folks I know are afraid to set foot in the woods without a gun, as the cougars are so much more bold.

We have lots of homes in the woods too,......I think it's only a matter of time before some child gets eaten.  Cougars are so bold now....many hunters are reporting being stalked.  I have a friend whose relative killed a cougar at 20 yards.  He was on stand a short while when he turned and saw it sneaking on him .....he just turned and drew, one shot kill at 20 yards.

Sooner or later we'll have a fatal attack in Oregon, I'm sure of it.  Then maybe the pendulum will swing the other way.  Or worse they'll try to ban humans in the woods altogether!

Englander,
Substitute Walt Disney for Beatrice Potter, Ted & Rob Kennedy, Diane Fienstein and that woman senator from Connecticut that wants to lock up the National Forests and you have a similarity for the British Parliment and it's pretty much the same here.  Our history is based on the common people rebelling though.  I don't think anyone would try such a blatant attack on the U.S. hunting community.  Here it will likely come through some backdoor legalize wrapped up in a conservation or environmental legislation package.  Of course, I don't want to get off on a rant here, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Englander,

I was wondering why my little Jack Russell was so down in the dumps. His ancestors must have set up an awfull yapping as the Rev. John Russell rolled over in his grave!

I hope we can all learn from this, yet I believe the die is cast since our political system is headed the same way.  Like little drips of water eroding a rock....
