I was told to set the bullet on something hard (concrete floor)and attempt to flatten it with a 2 lb hammer. I tried this on Beartooth bullets and they just got bigger around and never cracked, but another brand of 385 grain, .475 bullet cracked every time (3 attempts). Of course, you have to be careful and hit it square.
