I've just about got my browning 1886 carbine to where I want it. I've installed Ashley aperture sights on it and since the front blade was so thin .06 inches and the aperture is 0.195 I was having problems with sight acquisition with my aging eyes. I epoxied a flat ivory dot of .09 inches to the front blade and I can pick up the front sight quite a bit better and I can get very respectable groups out of it. My concern is that I am such a clutz that I'll either knock the dot off the front blade or bend the blade itself. I would like to install a hood to the front sight but my sight was not made for a hood. The sight is a small mount with the blade pinned into it. I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks
