Hello All!!!
 I just traded an Savage .223 bolt I had for a Browning a-bolt in 300 win mag with the BOSS system.  The A-bolt is near new, stainless steel with a poly stock, as the previous owner shot it once and was recoil shy.
 My question to my fellow shooters since I have not fired this rifle is:  What experience have you had with the Brownings?  Are they decent, accurate rifles?  Is the BOSS system worth the extra noise, or should I contact Browning for the Un-drilled Comp that makes it a plain bbl?
 Any help would be appreciated!!!!<!--emo&:)--><img src="http://beartoothbullets.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

m141a,
    Personally I despise muzzle brakes so that decision would be easy. But I have seen some folks at the shooting range get some impressive results with the BOSS unit, so I believe it really does work. One fellow, after tinkering with it just a little bit according to the instructions, got three shots touching from his brand new 300 Win Mag. He went home a happy boy. Aside from the muzzle brake/blast issue, the only thing I don't really like about it is that it shortens the effective length of the barrel. But in reality that is probably not a really big deal.
     Go make noise and enjoy!       IDShooter

 I am not a fan of the brakes myself, too much noise to justify lessining the recoil.  I guess though, in the field, the noise would be somewhat dissapated, as opposed to at the range.
 My a-bolt came with 2 compensators,one is the the perforated or "vented" brake, and the other, Browning is calling a BOSS CR, or conventional recoil.  This is a solid brake, so the noise and BLAST is directed down range.
I have been told that the accuracy from these type of bolt rifles is great, I'm sure gonna try to find out!

I see your A-Bolt is left handed.  I bought a L-H A-Bolt in 375 HH.  Took it to the range last week and put about 25 rounds of 300 gr. factory through it.
Fun gun.
The recoil seems to a little less to me than the 300 Win. mag I used to shoot alot.
Mine also has the Boss system.
Did not get to spend time trying the adjustment as I was just seeing what the rifle would be like in the recoil dept.
I mounted a very cheap Tasco 2 power shotgun scope on it and the scope seemed to hold up fine.  The reticle in this scope has a circle over a plex and would be great for hunting.  I will give this scope a go until I put a better varible on it at a later date.
It's amazing how the long 375 case ejects from the port of the A-bolt as the port seems to be too short for this round.
Good luck with your "A".
