i have a 16 gage auto with s/n A18xxx. I am confused about the sreial number. Browning lists the "A" prefix beginning with s/n 227000 but s/n 18xxx should be about 1925 manufacture. is the 1925 date correct? This gun does not have a s/n on the barrell, so i assume it's not original.

The "A" prefix was for the Sweet Sixteen during the yers 1957 - 1958. The prefix T" was used for the standard sixteen during that time.
