There maybe a better forum for this??? I have an older Browning 300 Win Mag Stainless Stalker that I am trying to lessen trigger pull. Right now, it is about 4.5 LBS. Rifle was purchased new in the mid 90s. The only adjustment I have found on it is a spring-loaded slot screw behind trigger (see attached inside the trigger's "U"). It appears to be the only an adjust for trigger movement and not tension. I have supplied photos. If anyone knows where and what I am suppose to adjust, please reply. I have a trigger pull weight scale.

I think that Stainless Stalker is the version while the Model is A-Bolt II. The number of adjustments were lessened as the basic rifle evolved from the BBR to A-Bolt to the A-Bolt II. If it is an A-Bolt then there might be more options.

That screw you are looking at is the Trigger Pull Adjusting Screw, it should give pulls between 3½ and 6½ Lbs. Before adjusting clean the trigger group , naptha(lighter fluid) works well. Turn the screw clockwise to make the pull lighter and counter-clockwise to make heavier. Do not go below 3½ Lbs.

I have a Browning 300 Win Mag Stainless Stalker (purchased new mid-90s) with a ~4.5 lb trigger pull — I can only find a spring-loaded slot screw behind the trigger inside the “U”; is that the correct place to adjust pull weight or is there another internal adjustment I’m missing?
