Okay I have already said I am new to all of this, and I can't "see" any of you folks laughing, so if between chuckles you could see your way clear to answering another  question for me I would truley appreciate it. I have decided to leave my winchester 94 in it's present 32 win spec caliber. I am still searching for brass.(was told that I could neck up 30-30 brass??). Now for why I am here again. I read through the tip and FAQ sections and learned about "slugging" the bore of this rifle. I am just wondering, which dimension I use. Do I use the "from land to land"(.316") or the "groove to groove"(.321"). I will definatly be useing BTB's products and just needed this cleared up so I could place an order. One more thing,(sorry), I have purhased a used RCBS partner press and am looking for a die set. I am leaning towards lee's limited production,(&#36&#36) but am willing to spend more if a better suited set would make life easier. I checked with RCBS and their die sets are a bit more pricey. They also have two different sets,, their standard, and a cowboy set. I am just planning on useing this rifle for target and sillouette shooting and am confused about die set selection right now.

Again I would like to thank you people in advance. My last question was inspired after A "freind" offered me &#3620 for the old winchester due to limited supplies here for it, and now I know I will enjoy it much more once I get under way.

Yes you can use 30/30 brass. You'll need a tapered expander button to neck it up. This installs in your sizing die in place of the "stock" expander button. It has a tapered end so it can enter the 30/30 case neck and expand it up to .321 or thereabouts. You could modify the one in your 32 Special Sizer die in a drill press with a file if you are into it.

You want the groove diameter (the widest part) of the hole in the barrel.

As far as what dies to buy, that becomes a personal preference. They are all good quality items. If you are trying to save every last dime, try the LEE dies. However, RCBS equipment has a lifetime warranty. You could even get a tapered expander with a call to RCBS customer service and explaining what you are trying to do.

Oh, and I'll give you &#3625 for that rifle. :biggrin:

I checked the bullet selection and from what I see Marshall offers a .323 bullet for the 32 Win. This makes perfect sense for your rifle. I would recommend slugging the bore to be certain of your measurements. Before doing any of this you may want to order Marshall's Tech Guide if you haven't already. This will make your experimentation much more rewarding. It covers in great detail exactly what you need to do when checking the size of not only your bore but throat size as well. In addition, it covers everything you'll ever need to know about using lead bullets.

I would steer you toward the RCBS dies, I think the extra investment is worth it. I'm not familiar with the cowboy die set though. Perhaps someone else has some extra information on these.

About bullets, I would suggest that you check the dimensions of the throat in your rifle, although the .321" sounds right for the groove diameter, many of these guns benefit from a .323" diameter bullet to fill up the generous throats in these rifles.

Also, brass is available from www.trungray.com.

Once fired commercial brass is &#3615.00/100 pcs. and new brass is &#3630.00/100 peices.   You're much better off with correctly headstamped brass for these prices.

About the dies, again personal choice, but the RCBS or Hornady dies for the money are a great bargain, especially with a no-nonsense lifetime warranty!
