Hello I have a friend who is looking into getting a Sako A7 Roughtech Pro Chambered In 30-06( My friend and I both and I both thunk it is the best cartridge for the terrain and game we hunt) but the only problem with the A7 that I see is very not many retailers are selling it. I know Bass has them online but in Manteca, I doubt they have one in 30-06 there( I cannot know for sure because whenever I call I wait for a long period of time and they dont answer and Manteca is far away from me it is a 2 1/2 plus drive)
I have found a online store that is selling them but they are in the UK. My question ia can I order the rifle from the UK and hav it shipped to an FFL near me? I dont know a whole lot about customs and all that. I got my weatherby from a gun owner nearby. Help is much appreciated so thank you in advance.

It would have tp be imported to a FFL holder (local dealer most likely) so you can check out those in your area to see if they would be willing to act as your agent. There's tons of paperwork importing a firearm so be prepared. An internet search on the subject would be a good undertaking to determine what the regulations are.

I am not sure but there will also probably be an export license fee payable here as well. I know that is the problem I have shipping F/As from the USA as your government has seen it necessary to charge $250 dollars for and export license .... used to be $50 which was still a bit stupid. I am fairly certain you will have the same here, I will make enquiries, see what I can find out but contact the seller here and they should give you full details. As kdub says expect a lot of paperwork or having to pay your importer to complete that for you. I used to deal with a company called Worldwide Sports Network Inc., in the US, and they were very helpful but they had to add around $120 just to cover completion of export and shipping details. Then the shipping came to another $250, so unless you had a valuable cargo to start with it made importing just say a barrel very expensive.
Who/What is the company you have contact with in the UK? I can maybe give you a heads up on them too.

CA .... Honestly, I would think a 2 1/2 hr drive to be a lot less trouble. I would have thought they would have an e mail you could contact the store with as well ..must have. If a 30-06 is available then they could order and you could collect cutting out all of the problems for shipping etc etc etc.

You'll need an FFL holder in your state that also has an import license. The dealer in England has to be or find an exporter. Remember, the gun has to be stamped with the importer's name when it comes in, too.
I'd go to Gunsinternational dot com and buy one here.

I think if you look more closely, you will find that company is based in the U.S., or at least that portion is. I have referred several folks to them for purchase of scopes from them. Those products ship from within the borders of the U.S.(likely Pa.) Note how the price is listed in $$.

Call them at 570-368-3920 and I'm sure they can help you.

Yes Europtic is here stateside, in PA! They are very easy to do biz with, all you'd have to do is pay them via the phone or website & have them ship the gun to your local FFL. Lastyear my huntn buds wife called me & wanted me to order him a nice rifle for their 20th anniv. He & I had already discussed the Sako Finnlight (7-08) with a 3x9x36 Swarovski & all held together via OptiLok bases rings. I knew my local stores wouldn't have either but I visited them to make sure. No one had it & my local Gndr Mtn looked at their other stores but no dice. I knew their ordering anything from Sako was a farce & we'd be lucky to have it in 6mths. (Beretta owning them has made the inner workings TERRIBLE as has every other euro gun maker they've bought over the last few decades or so. )

So anyway I got online, found Europtic, they had everything in stock, at about the best price as well & they gladly answered the phone! So I ordered it all, the bases/rings & scope were on my doorstep by weeks end & the Sako was shipped to Gndr Mtn & I had the whole rig mounted & sighted in for him when she gave it to him that weekend! He "tried" to cuss me for spending HIS $$$ so well but after he saw & handled the rifle & then took a buck with it the very next morning he admitted it was a bad azz rig & he LOVED it!

I try to buy local but that just sometimes doesn't work, ESPECIALLY when dealing with euro items... that's why I keep places like MidwayUSA & Europtic on speed dial! ;)
