Howdy! Fixing on getting a new Savage and I can't decide over two different models? Thought I could pick up something from you alls experience.

Model 10FXP3 30-.06 VS Model 111FCXP3 30-.06

Model10FXP3 accutrigger(yes), 22-inch barrel, synthetic stock, closed magazine (guess easier to get aftermarket stocks for this one) Also, no longer on Savages website so can't get specifics.

Model111FCXP3 accutrigger(no) dealer sais it does, but Savages website sais no, and there was a trigger lock on it so couldn't see if yes or no, synthetic stock, open/hinged floor plate

So, I have been all over the internet for three weeks researching these models, but chose this forum finally to post this question. Hope you all got some news? Much appreciated!

I can tell you that the accu-trigger makes all the difference in the world! I have 3 Savages with accu-triggers in center fire calibers and they are very accurate, all of them shoot under
1-MOA wilthout me giving much effort to the task. ;)

Model 10FXP3 in 30-06:
Synethic Stock - F
XP3 - Scope package setup
Model 10 is a short action and Model 110 is long action which the 30-06 would need. Which one is it?

Model 111FCXP3:
Synethic Stock - F
Detachable Box Magazine - C
XP3 - Scope package setup
111 is a long action which is required for the 30-06 cartridge.

One should be a stagger feed setup while the other is a center feed unless its new enough then both could be centerfeed. I personally prefer the detachable box magazine. If later you want to change to a wood stock then disassemble the box magazine and use the parts to make a blind magazine for the wood stock. Unless one is very old which I doubt they both should be Accua-Trigger setups if Savage. If Stevens then no Accua-Trigger. Assume both have round rear receivers not the flat top style.

The savage site(Jan. 2010) has the 111 package without the accutriger.(111FCXP3) Savage has put accutriggers on all of the other 111 models, perhaps this is some old stock because it has a reduced price. If ordering simply state "accutriger" on the order and then you need only to accept that.

Model 10FXP3 30-.06? Hmmm, interesting. I believe that the two digit model numbers (ie, '10') refer to short action models. Browsing the Savage website shows this to currently be te case. The only Google hits I could get on Model 10FXP3 where on other message boards so there I could find no difinative information about it. 30.06 is a long action round so you would find it in models like 110 or 111. Is this NIB at a store somewhere? Is that really how they have it labelled? Sometimes joints like Wal-mart will give change model numbers around; I'm not talking just guns either. I am alwasy a bit leary of making a purchase when the store is messed up basic information like this.

You are all correct and that is why the search/decision has been a pain in the you know what. One place sais it's definetly a Model10 30-06 which makes no sense because the Model10 series are short actions. And by the way (berudd) this rifle is at WallyWorld.

On the other end of things- The Model111FCXP3 is at Big5 and that model doesn't have the accu-trigger (according to Savages website), but dude sais it does. I gotta get up there tomorrow and have them take the trigger lock off.

Or, I switch things up entirely and go back to my original problem I began with one-month ago. Savage vs Remy700ADL vs Weatherby/Howa i.e. Japanese Vanguard. This is my first 30-06 and wanna get the best I can get(in that price range), and all 4 of these rifles are priced the same.

Thanks for the help...I appreciate your input

Personally I just bought the Savage 111FLNS .30-06. Which is the left handed version of what I believe you are looking at. I read a lot of reviews and opinions about the accu trigger and decided that with the amount of people who love the accu trigger I wanted to make sure I got that. I bought the left handed version so it wasn't available with the cheep scope on it which to me isn't a big upside anyway. I just put a Nikon Buckmaster 4X14X40 scope on it and intend to put a Harris bipod on it next month. All together I have about 1000 invested in it right now which is pretty good for what I'll be using it for.

Well Gents, its like this, I do have some custom made expensive excellent shooting rifles and they do have very pretty burl walnut stocks on them ok. It has taken me some 50 years to acquire the guns I have in my safes & vault, just so you know.

However, in the last couple of years, the industry has some a long way with additions to rifles that make them super accurate for cheap production rifles. I mean to tell you all, that Savage and CZ rifles shoot right up there with a $3,000 to $5000 dollar rifle. I will also tell you that the accu-trigger, though not a piece of "art work" if not only practical, it works like a magic wond to make things happen in small groups. Now that is about as plain as the Kings English gets gentlemen!!!;):)
