Howdy All,
Just wanted to know your favorite after shave ? Mine happens to be Ed's Red, the revised version.(see Tips & Comments archives, Bore Cleaner Recipe, Ed's Red) This is made with equal parts xylene, MEK, and ATF.

I find the xylene particulary effective opening up clogged pores, the MEK a wonderful ex-folliant, and the ATF a super moisturizer. Just a little splash in the morning will surely invigorate your senses on the most trying of mornings.

Ed's red is also good in preserving molds for long term storage and cleaning the foulest of guns.

By the way, Hi- Karate' was a close second. Let's have some fun with this one !

My better half prefers Sweet's 7.62, but I have found it to be rather harsh, so I too choose Hoppe's.

I'm a Hoppe's #9 man also, but I find that a little Breakfree CLP after a good shave drives the ladies wild!

Nothin' better to get rid of that morning lead mouth than a little JB bore paste too!  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://beartoothbullets.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

I've always preferred the lovely "bouquet" of LBT Blue bullet Lube. Sort of fruity in nature. It would take the strongest of men walking past a tube of this stuff not to partake of a little sniff and renewal of mind and spirit.

Oh, just thinking about it now that it's not available anymore makes me all woosy inside.

I must go lie down.

Contender,
Right you are, sir ! My knees go weak, my palms sweat, and pulse quickens. I start pacing back and forth, looking at the gun safe, wondering if I have time for a "quickie" at the range to squeeze off a few with the slightest wiff of LBT blue. The ole' factory lobe is sending messages to the brain, more.... more !!

Not to fret, LBT lube is once again available, from Verals wife, Judy. It's only available in soft, hollow stick form in packs of 10 or 30 for $35.00 and $85. 00 respectively. Send to: Judy Smith HCR62 BOX 145, Moyie Springs, ID 83845. Check out Sixgunner.com for details. Veral's book," Jacketed Performance With Cast Bullets" is also available for $25.00. All prices include shipping.

Hope this makes your day, Contender !

Just the mention of Hoppes brings the fragrence to my nose and memories of my dad to my mind. A hint of "Old Spice" lingers with the memories of Dad. Funny how the subconcious picks up on things.

I think I will crack open a jug and have a little snort   8*)

Hoppes #9...what an aroma... reminds me of my first 2 guns. The first was a High Standard pump shotgun, 20 guage. Next was a Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm Rem Mag. Both bought for me by Dad. He's a living legend in my mind.

Watch out, that nice Mr Daschle will be after you.
We don't use grooming products in Australia, they're considered a bit, you know, unmanly. Every 100,000 rounds or so, we blow down the barrel from the breech end (the gun's breech, not ours, that's a Kiwi practice) and pass a shredded spit-soaked singlet through.
You only need look at our Olympic Gold tally to understand the efficacy of this tradition.

Nothing like a splash of Cedar scent after shaving. ;)

Dave
Gotta go with BreakFree....tho ED's Red is a close second, most likely due to my mechanics related genes....Being a full bearded type don't shave too much.....but still splash it on in the mornin after shower.....mack

We up North of the 49th. prefer a more aromatic approach. Nothing beats yee olde sent of G96, it reminds me of the old Double Bubble, the one that stayed chewey for at least a couple of hours, not a couple of minuites. For a more institutional scent Kroil is another good go to. And alas the scent of Alox bullet lube takes me back to the days of my first apartment and a lot of nights spent casting my own.
