Dark mode is a little easier on the eyes, thanks.

One of the things about the old forum that make it easier for your eyes to follow, was that there was a slight color difference between every other post in a thread. A small thing but it did help to visually separate the posts on the page. I'd vote for something similar.

I don;t like this new forum either but one thing I've learned (well, we all have) is that once changes like this are made, they never go back despite the unrest and unhappiness (please prove me wrong! :) ) So, I've resigned myself to be a good subject and just get used to it. I figure in 2 or 3 months it'll be "home" again.

Sure would like to be able to "edit" a post, though.

We are excited to announce that we are live on our new updated forum platform!

It’s been a long time coming. Let’s face it. Sometimes older forum technology lags behind other parts of the internet. Although seeing the same format for a long time is comforting, the member experience shouldn’t include dealing with outdated, unsafe, slow software.

The transition to a new platform will never be 100% smooth but the days of dealing with out of date forum software are over. We have teams dedicated to building a world-class community for you. The development has been steady with regular software releases since May 2019. Asking members for feedback and coming up with ideas for improvement is what we want.

Speed and Reliability Are Key
No one should have to wait for information. This site has been built to be much faster and more reliable, period.

New Homepage Experience
Your home page now features the most active forums, trending discussions, featured showcases, and top contributing members. This will keep you up to date on what’s happening in your community and, as we go through updates, will become a very personalized experience for our members.

Search
We have introduced new search algorithms, powered by an industry-leading AI platform, to help you find information faster. We plan to roll out new features to continue improving search, and to power many additional areas of the forum.

Due to the volume of content, our search platform may take some time to complete indexing over the first few days after migrating. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

Finding Your Way Around
We have made the design clean and simple to use. Near the upper right-hand corner of the community, you will see navigation icons.

The first icon is for what’s new on the site.

Clicking on it, by default, will take you to new unread posts. On that page, you can click on additional tabs as well, such as Popular, if you prefer to view active topics.

Clicking the list icon next to “NEW” will bring you to the full forum listing.

Clicking your avatar will give you a drop-down menu for all things related to your account.

You can also navigate more by clicking the 3 vertical dots.

Dark Mode
We have introduced Dark Mode. One of our favorite features allows you to access the site with a power-saving, and easier on the eyes dark mode. You can access it in the drop-down menu under the 3 vertical dots.

Save Bookmarks
Now you can save your favorite discussion threads and posts! Bookmarks are a handy way to remember and easily find great content or stuff you want to read later.

We also wanted to make it easier for new users to understand the lingo of forums. We have cleaned up various language to more commonly recognized phrases including:
  • Following - Thread subscriptions, and Watched are now known as Following
  • Conversations - Private Messages or PMs are now conversations and can be accessed from the user avatar drop-down in the main navigation
  • Showcase - Showcase is designed for users to "showcase" items/projects through the use of uploaded images, text descriptions and custom content categories. It’s a way to visually and textually provide detailed information on the content you wish to share. The showcase would be similar to a catalog, whereas the gallery would be like a photo album. It can be accessed from the drop-down menu with the 3 dots.
Take a tour and look around! Check out the Help section for some quick FAQs about the new platform.

Please keep all feedback, questions, concerns, requests for help, etc.regarding the new platform right here in this Feedback thread. This will help us make sure not to miss a request for help and also let us pass along your thoughts to our Product team. The Admins and I will be here to help along the way taking note of your comments.

I only have Windows XP on an older computer so I am frustrated by this "New and Improved" format. I liked the old format's listing of the post's Name/headline with separate provision of expanding the first post to gain insight about its content. The New format of showing each and every Post to a forum as a separate complete text/photo/video that must be scrolled through to see the next entry of the listing is NOT QUICK at all!
Editing a post is much slower in the New Format than it was in the Old format.
I have not tried your new 'Dark" view yet but I hope to try it later. 'Weapons Guild' does us ea dark background with White font forits Posts but has a Black or dark grey background and Orange font for its home page, which is not as easy to read. I hope you have not chosen low contrast fonts on your 'dark' format.

So far Today, your new forum format is not looking too good to me.
But then I am a Older Retired person on Social Security so may not be typical of all viewers/users/members.

NSB said it. "You fixed something that wasn’t broke. " I'll try, but the new system seems much less intuitive. and ugly presentation.

I dislike this forum software on here just as much as on every other Canadian-owned internet forum they’ve changed to it.

I know none of the board mods have any control over it, but it still sux.

On a related note, are there even a few percent of internet forums (of any type) left that are NOT owned by that one Canadian company??

I used to go directly to the "Reloading Equipment" sub forum, now I can't find it. I think the new colors and format is too "busy" and not easy to read. Not an improvement, seems to just be a :new and improved" format just to have a"new and improved format", I see no advantage, no improvement, nothing "better"...

But I doubt if there is any chance of improving the improvement...

It's where it always was. When you login, just to the left of your avatar (top right of the screen) is a horizontal "hamburger" menu. Clock on that, and it will load all sub forums just as they always were.

This is explained in the FAQ

Cheers

I can't say I am a fan of the new format. The old one seemed to be very easy to navigate.

Then again, I loved windows XP and wish they would use the same format for windows.

Eventually I suppose I'll get used to it, but on it's face it just doesn't look very friendly.

As I said of this software on another of the Canadian-owned forums when major technical glitches were found with it:

New and improved! :-/

I am fairly new to the site and came here for the discussions and knowledge shared.
The format change has a lot of good points and kept enough of the old niceties.
The home page was a little distracting at first but once I clicked on the forum listing it is all there.
I empathize with those who were tied to the old format and if the format was more important than the content then you have lost a lot. The content is worth a lot more than the format it is displayed in. Everyone has different imperatives.

Most older folk (myself included) don't like change. It takes a bit getting used to, however, I'm personally finding the pros more than offset the cons. As a Moderator, the tools to manage posts and new/old members are much easier than before. Think as time goes by all will be much more comfortable with the format.

Honestly, I am not a big fan of change myself but this was truly a needed change.

It took me a week or two to adjust, but everything we need for navigation is in the upper righthand corner of the site.

I am here to help. :)
