Electronic calls are legal on yotes in WA. you can't use them during an open deer season. you also must wear orange if hunting Yotes during an open deer season. if no deer season is open where you are hunting then no hunter orange is required and electronic calls are legal. Use of dogs are out as is bait.
I have one reed call named distressed rabbit and will be adding MP3s to the player to have more variety. a site I've been looking at
www.buckingtheodds.com, has a number of videos of coyote hunting techniques. for sure these are not the only way to have success but it is what I'm planning to try.
1. a fur covered remote operated decoy with two modes of movement. a rotating fur topper that spins on an 18 inch piece of fishing pole (drive wheels of a modified RC car) and a bobbing rabbit head steering of a modified RC car. the whole thing except the pole and the topper fits in a small plastic tool box about 8"x4"x2" and is fur covered
2. an mp3 player playing pup sounds and various animal sounds at moderately low volume.
3. mouth calls used at moderatley high volume.
The idea is to distract the coyote with the decoy/ sound combo at some distinace from my stand and get them to stop in rnage if possible. the RC car will mean I don't have to move more than 1 finger to get a lot of activity out of the decoy. and will minimize the chance that the yote will pick me up due to movement I'll be in full cammo and if possble behind a blind of some kind. The yotes I have observed at my inlaws place have spotted me from over 200 yards and headed for cover I was not in cammo or trying to hunt them when spotted just see them on the property.
