At what point does it become a trophy rifle? :)

Hopefully I will baptize it on a Russian bore hunt this spring. Will have a few hunts for it next fall and one is a black bear hunt and if things work out and I have raised the funds I will be going to Alaska on a bear hunt in the spring of 2011.
2111? You're planning to hunt a long time. Seriously though, nice rifle.

Thanks, I made the correction on the date. :)
What kinda glass you putting on it? What weight bullets did you plan on using in it?
I am not sure what glass, can't afford anything right now because I spent so much on the rifle that I will have to use a 4.5-14x40mm SF BDC BuckMaster that I have laying around.

I will be testing the 210gr Partition, 210gr Scirocco, 225gr Accubond, 225gr North Fork, 250gr Partition, Accubond, Sierra SBT and 240gr North Fork
Nice gun Bear and great caliber. Good hunting! I love Wtby's.
I'm not a big fan of Weatherby's but that one sure looks nice, I bet it'll shoot too!
Mike, might I suggest a Zeiss when funds allow ? :D

Nice rifle ! But I think you should have went with the .338-378 :D

I have owned three Conquest by they do not compare to the Bushnell 6500 I a friend of mine has on his long range rifle and for 650 -700 is in the $1500 class of scopes. No way do I want to shoot a 338/378Wby without a break. :)

While, I agree the 6500 is a great scope. I just wouldn't put it above the Zeiss. I tried one, I liked it. It was the 2.5-16 with Mil-Dots. Clarity was very crisp, but what can I say, I'm spoiled now !

Well, that is a good report, I did not know that you had one that you could compare to the Zeiss scope, it give me more to consider.

I tried it on another guys gun. I didnt own it. I do know the magnification range on the 6500 is great ! 2.5-16, you cant beat that ! The 2.5 is great for walking in the woods, and the 16 is plenty for those long shots ! I'm not knocking the 6500 what so ever though. So please dont think that. I just always wanted a Zeiss, and finally got to try and own one. So maybe Im a little bias ? Kind of like my Ruger's ya know ?
What's that crap sitting on the receiver?
I know you can't be for real now. That is a one piece Picatinny rail. I can't see it good enough, but some folks use those in a 10 or 20 MOA rise so the scope doesn't run out of adjustment at 1000 yards.

That "crap" can easily run upwards of $150 each http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=562717

That is what it is and that is what we decided to do with it. I do plan on making long, very long shoots when all is said and done.
How long is long, very long?

I think that is a sketchy topic. My idea of long shooting at an animal is 300-400 yards. Shooting at paper, 1000 is my thoughts even though I dont get to shoot a 1000 yards yet.

Tang, I am presently able to practice out to 600yds from all my shooting positions and have done so with the following rifles 257Wby, 7mmSTW, 300Win mag, 300Wby and 338Win mag. I don't have a longer range I can go to in a safe area without traveling a long ways.
