I have a CZ 527 and it is a shooter. I would think that the 550 would be no different.
I remember years and years ago that the Brono was a little bit of a problem but I have nothing but good things about CZ.

Blessings,

I own a 550 458lott. Nice looking gun and a great shooter. The gun is built very strong with 2 crossbolts. They are very accurate and very dependable. Just make sure it has the crossbolts. I guess they made these guns at one time without any and the stocks would sometimes crack from the immense recoil of the big calibers. It also uses the sought after controlled round feed in the dangerous game guns. Definetly a good buy.

I've heard nothing but good about the CZ's relating to function. Good info about the crossbolts. Not sure of the vintage of the rifle in question, but I recall that the CZ's had a safety that was 'fire' in the rear position, 'safe' in the forward position. Don't know if that was for all models at one time? That feature would be a deal-killer for me since I'm familiar with only fire-fwd, safety-rear, and don't think I could make the mental transition.

A buddy of mine has one and loves his. The first stock split in just a few rounds but CZ not only replaced it quickly but replaced it with a much better grade of wood and added the cross bolts, so apparently they have pretty good CS to boot.

In mine its safety to the rear and fire to the front. Very nice wood on the one I bought. They also have the single set trigger which really doesnt serve a purpose on this type of gun. If you push the trigger forward, it makes for about a 2# trigger with no creep.

I have no way of knowing just what stories you've heard about CZ rifles but I've owned more than a few over many years and they have all been first rate guns in every way. I presently own four in .22LR and a 527 in .223. Every one is well built and accurate. So was the Model 600 I had in .270 Winchester. I looked at a 550 in .22-250 just yesterday and the quality was excellent. In short, you won't go wrong buying a CZ, especially if you get one at a great price.

I have looked at them a time or two, when I was drooling over a Ruger MkII Magnum in Lott. The CZ's look very nice, and seem to be well built.

I have the Ruger in 416 Rigby and I like the CZ better. The CZ is lighter and better ballanced and has less felt recoil

CZ makes good rifles. I like the CZ 550 and am thinking of one in .375 H&H as my next bolt gun. When I bought my .416 Rigby I looked long and hard at CZ and Ruger and finally went Ruger and I wont look back on that choice because its been such a good rifle, but I still think I missed out on something with the CZ so I still want one.

The CZ has the better ejector. You can work the bolt on a Ruger fast enough that the spring loaded ejector blade can't come up and engage the edge of the cartridge. Some folks have put in stronger springs but I'd be inclined to lengthen the slot in the bolt to give the blade more time to come up.

I'm seriously considering swapping my Ruger .416 for a CZ. That said, I like the Ruger just fine I just like the CZ a little better. I've had no issues with my other CZ rifles and the little 452 Lux .22 is my favorite rifle.

I have a few CZs. Very well made guns. You do need to break them in, since the action can be a little stiff right from the factory - I cycled the action a couple of hundred times and it smoothed right up. I had some trigger work done on a couple, one of which will give me half MOA when I do my part. I have a P-01, 452 American, a 550 FS in 6.5x55 Swede, vz 58 (from Czechpoint), and a 550 Safari Magnum in 375 H&H with the Euro stock.

I have heard that they need cross bolts and the newer models all have them. Make sure with that potent a caliber that they are included.
