These pics were taken in North Texas.
With a good buck/doe ratio, the buck fights get pretty rough.
A guy was rattling, and a big buck below him started working his horns on a tree and then got his horns hung in the branches.
Before long, two more bucks came by, and proceded to ram the defenseless buck over and over while hanging in the tree.
This is real life, not Bambi

The Austin newspaper had a similar story, might have been the same deer?

Yea, that looks like a real nice buck. Big enough for me. The terrain looks like Childress area. That's what I heard anyway.

Great pics. That would be something you would never forget if you walked up on it in the wild. I should be out there instead of on this computer, right now.
