Gents,

Assuming proper prior preparation, what's the process for taking the barrel out of a Marlin 336 (standard 30-30)?

Is there an armorers manual on the Marlin rifle?

Lobo, they are screwed into the receiver.  It is a square thread, not that it matters for disassembly, but my dad took one apart so that's how I know.

Right-hand thread, I believe... shouldn't be much different than taking a barrel off of a bolt-action receiver, once you get the extra parts (bolt, mag tube, and so on) out of the way.

Does this help or did you mean something else?

Mike,

I was hoping it would be that straight forward.  Now to Brownells for a barrel vice and an action wrench.  I'm doing a custom M336 in 30-30 for my wife;  I'll fill you in when I'm done!

Most of my rifle rack is filled with Marlin lever rifles, and I really would like a how-to text to make R&R easier. Any suggestions?

Glad to be of some help.  Sounds like you are on the right track.  I'd offer more but have reached the limit of my knowledge in the matter.  Good luck and let us know how it goes.
