I need some help with external ballistics. I have tried to use the on line calculator over in the Beartooth Bullets section, but it won't work. I don't know how to use it for sure, then my computer has been giving me a consistant run of 502 and 504 errors lately. So I can't get anything done.

My goal. I want to sight my 20" Rossi in at 25 yards, (the only range I have available to me) with it shooting high enough that it will be close to on at 100 yards.

Gun:......Rossi Puma 20" barrel
Sights:...Front; aproxamatly .65" from center of bore to top
.............of sight. Rear; ?
Ammo....Winchester 255 gr lead.
Velocity...1100fps (aproxamatly)
BC..........0.153

If this rifle / load is sighted for a 100 yards zero, how high will the bullets hit at 25 yards?
If there is any more infor needed to calculate this please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any and all help on this matter.

Hi, J:
This doesn't format too well, hope you can separate the columns. TOF = time of flight. The last column's heading is Wind at 10mph, for crosswind drift in inches.

Enter Velocity or H for Help or P to Print last run or M for Menu.
Muzzle Velocity 1100
Ballistic Coefficient .153
Sight Height (In.) .65 Start at (Yd.) 25
Sight-in Range 100 Maximum Range 200
Range Velocity TOF Drop Trajectory Wind @
0 1100 0.000 0.0 -0.6 10 MPH
25 1055 0.069 0.9 2.6 0.3
50 1016 0.142 3.8 3.9 1.0
75 982 0.217 8.7 3.1 2.2
100 951 0.294 16.0 -0.0 3.9
125 925 0.374 25.5 -5.4 6.0
150 900 0.457 37.7 -13.4 8.5
175 878 0.541 52.4 -24.0 11.3
200 857 0.627 69.9 -37.4 14.5
Hit Enter for the Menu

Bye

Thanks, Jack.
I just printed your post and read and re-read it. It is just what I needed. Thanks a lot.
Now that I know the answers I go back to the balistics program and play with it. Maybe I'll be able to learn how to use it.
