Hello
My name is Raymond I'm 64 years old had a 4 way bypass 11/2 years ago I thank God I'm still here, I love guns and motorcycles was a grunt in the Army served 13 months in Nam and have a honorable discharge enough about that. Since I couldn't figure out how to post a picture from photobucket I'll just ask if I'm in the right place. Before my bypass I bought a S&W mod.13-3 in a cigar box in parts, I got it back together but there was one part left over so I took the plate off my mod. 65 and this part is not there also I can't find it in the schematic for that model so I put it back together and it seems to work fine, If anyone would like to take a shot at it please e-mail me and I'll send you a picture.
Any Help Will Be Appreciated

Welcome to the forum. About the only part that can be left out and the gun still function is the hammer block. The piece looks kind of like a flag with a flat oblong loop on the bottom.

Yep...that's the bolt (or cylinder stop) and you need it. It's what locks the cylinder in place (the top of that part voves up and doen, snapping in and out of the notches on the cylinder).

Does have a smpring that powers it...and that other SW you looked at should show you how and where it works.

No I have the cyl. lock which looks sort of like it but if you will notice this part don't have the tip that locks the cyl. the part that looks like a lock is way wider than the cyl. lock no it's not the cyl. lock and I actully can't find it in my mod. 65, I'll take it to the gun shop and find out were it goes or what it is.
Thanks Anyways

Belive me, that is the cylinder stop. The u shaped end protrudes through the bottom of the frame, and catches in the cylinder stop notches. You can get an exploded view of all the parts for your Model 13-3 by going to www.gunpartscorp.com The index number for the part is #67,and the gunparts P/N is 308330 price is $14. Their schematic shows the parts in correct rotation and their location in relation to the rest of the parts.

(Added) You might have an extra cylinder stop for a diferent size frame that was in the box of parts when you received the gun, and that is why it is wider than the cylinder notches on your Mod. 13-3.

I'll go with that...might be an "extra". At one time, they had replacements that were a touch too wide, which aloowed for timing/fitting adjustments in a rebuild. Or it could just be a spare part from some other project that got mixed in.

Hate it when that happens...drives you nuts to have a "bag gun" dropped off that has either (1) one too few parts or (2) one too many.
