Let me tell you, I LOVE shooting this rifle! It just gets better and better every time. As I am getting more comfortable with the rifle, my shooting is really tightening up, and this gun LOVES Federal Gold Medal match 168gr. I found a place online to buy this ammo for $20 a box.

I also lowered and repositioned the scope with a weaver multi-slot base and weaver low rings. This has worked out awesome. The multi-slot base allowed me to close my eyes, establish my cheek weld, then open my eyes and bring the scope back to get the eye relief. It worked perfectly at the range. Every time I laid my cheek down, the view through the scope was perfect. No adjusting my face to make it work. I think it improved my accuracy as well. Plus, the scope won't hit my face now because it is positioned just perfect with my natural cheek weld to the rifle.

Here's my best 3 shot group to date. My spotter confirmed, all 3 shots went in this group. Measuring .25 MOA from center to center (.5 from outer to outer).

Oh, that'll never do...you should sell that rifle right away and get one that will shoot decent groups. Just let me know when you're ready to unload it, ok? :D

Pretty fair shooting but you should score all 5 shots ! A well tuned Remington in .308 will always shoot well .
The first two shots were cold bore and after being cleaned, so I expected the first couple of rounds to be a bit off. The rest of the 3 in the mag went right where I have boxed off, so I think that's a fair group.

so will you clean the barrel before you go out next time,or leave her fouled a bit for accuracies sake..thats real good shootin.:) slim
I clean the barrel after every box of ammo. When hunting season comes, I will clean the barrel, shoot two 5 round groups and then store it without cleaning the barrel. That way the first shot in the woods should be closer to on target .

For the sake of less than 1" of POI, you're going to purposely foul your barrel and leave it that way for weeks, maybe months? You realize that unless you're hunting at 400 yards, or more, that 1" of difference won't amount to a hill of beans, right? Consider that you likely will not be firing from a prone position at a measured distance or have a spotter there, calling your shots.

Yes, I'm busting your chops a little, but before you make a commitment to leave a brand-new, great-shooting barrel dirty, on purpose, make sure you practice your "one-shot groups" as well as doing some cold-weather shooting from various positions, to simulate actual hunting conditions. I'm all for 100 yard bench-rest practice, but if you plan to take that rifle afield, there are other considerations to take into account.

Fire 1 shot, wait 10-15 minutes, fire 1 shot; do this 5 times, at five different 1" squares. I do not dispute that many guns fail to put the first shot from a cold barrel exactly where it will put subsequent shots. Most of the time though, it is a cold SHOOTER that is causing the problem. I didn't believe it either, until a wise old man proved it to me. Before you hate me for suggesting there is nothing wrong with your gun that would cause those bullets to be outside the "x" ring, just try it. It's more important to know what your barrel does with the first shot, anyway...even if it isn't consistent with the itty-bitty groups it will shoot when it is warm and fouled.

GOOD JOB. ... "only accurate rifles are interesting"...

I've only had one centerfire rifle that was close to that, accuracy-wise. Back in the '60's I bought a .22-250 Remington 700. I put a Redfield 4-12 on it and took it to the range. First 5 shot group, out of a cold and clean barrel, measured 5/16". Factory ammo. Wood stock. No bipod. No sling. I like yours better. :D
