I've decided to fire lap my new Marlin cause all I can get is 3" groups at 110 yds. After I order the lapping supplies (ie. bullets, seating screw, compound, etc.)to load up about 50 rounds, I'd like to get a powder charge using either Unique or Herco that I have on hand. Reason is I don't want to shell out for a whole pound of powder that I'll only need a fraction of.  Any help would be appreciated.

Smokepole,

Try between 5.7g and 6.0g of Unique, this should get the job done with the powders you have on hand.   My favorite is Red Dot, using 5.0 grains, but yes, you can use Unique!

Let us know how things go, and what the lapping does for your accuracy!

God Bless,

Marshall
