Hello,
I have a little Winchester #290 rifle in .22 rimfire cal.
It has a little inexpensive scope and mount.
I also have a couple of better scopes, one of which I would like to install onto this rifle.
The origional mount fits into grooves on the receiver. Is there a mount available that would fit this rifle and accept a larger scope?
Thanks,
Frank

Hi, Frank:
I've got a set of Weaver #49440 mounts I use with a 4X Bushnell Sportview with a 1 1/2" diameter front bell. They're not high enough for a 4-12X with a 2" front bell. Several other outfits make them too.

Bye

kragman,

The grooves are designed to work with "tip-off" mounts. Burris, Weaver and Leupold all make mounts which will handle 1" scopes with various sized bells. I have a set of steel Redfield, which I have not seen available for several years, but are dandies. Look for steel mounts, as they are more durable.
