The lrml.com website also had a write up on the gibbs rifle (which I found after posting). They recommended a dose of 100gr of swiss black powder with a 500+ gr bullet for competition.
I'm really starting to think about getting a Gibbs rifle. I'm a little leary because I bought a pedersoli sharps replica about 10 years ago which I wasn't real happy with. The front blade sight seperated at one point and there were just alot of sharp corners around the action metal which always seemed to bite. I ended up trading it to a friend. I keep hearing good things about the Gibbs though (holds a bunch of records, etc.) so maybe I will give Pedersoli another shot?
