I'm looking for a reasonably small and fairly light CC handgun (1.5 lbs or under). I am going to sell my Kahr P380. One of the side panels pops loose every time I shoot it, and I am rethinking the 380 ACP. It's just too small of a caliber to make me feel like it's good protection if the worst should happen and I actually need to use it (God forbid).

When I sell the Kahr, I would like to buy a 9mm or a .40mm to replace it. The Glock 27 is intriguing because I could potentially buy two barrels for it, and then I would be able to shoot both calibers out of it. The 27 is cool, because I can lengthen it with bigger clips, as well, when I am not so concerned about carrying it in summer under a t shirt. I would feel a little better if it had a safety on it.

The RAMI 2075 looks interesting online, but I've never shot one. Has anyone had any experience with this handgun? The owner of a local gun store keeps one on his hip concealed, and has for many years. He's a smart man, a former policeman and a veteran. That means a lot to me because I feel he has good judgment. He does not like plastic guns for himself, even though he sells plenty of them. I've heard from him that the safety is reliable on the RAMI, and easy to disengage in a pinch situation. Some people don't like the triggers, however. He likes the trigger on his 9mm 2075, but some people online have complained about them being inconsistent, grainy, etc. Not sure what that means, however.

I like the idea of an all metal handgun because when I buy a gun I like, I want to hold onto it for decades to come. How long does plastic last? Thirty, forty years? Not sure. The RAMI has a black polycoat "alloy" frame. Not sure what that means. Not sure if it is much better than plastic for lasting a long time.

I will want to be able to conceal my new subcompact handgun in multiple situations. I want to get a pocket holster and an inside the belt holster as well, but I probably would not go so far as to ever buy an ankle holster. I also like to just put the handgun in my coat pocket loose when I walk my dog (who tends to pull on the leash a lot!).

If anyone has an opinion on a nice, light, accurate, durable CC handgun in 9mm, 40 or even 45, I'm all ears. So far, I've been intrigued by the RAMI and the little Glock. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

My current carry is the RAMI. So far no problems with over 500 rounds of .40 S&W through it without even a hicup. It is both reliable and accurate. Holster is an Uncle Mike's #16 IWB. I've added 2 rounds of .40 S&W by going to the extended Mag which adds about 1 inch to over all depth. I've been thinking about having a 9mm barrel rechambered for .357 SIG. Size wise it is the same size as my AMT Back UP DA in .40 S&W/.357 SIG. It has my trust, or I wouldn't carry one for CCW.

Kirk perhaps you might like to read the thread on "penetration"! I'll take a .40 cal S&W over a 9mm caliber anytime. I keep a model 27 in the truck for an additonal backup and it is a GLOCK as matter of fact. My wife shoots a Glock 27 model and it does a satisfactory job with the proper bullets.

I myself carry a model 29 in 10mm caliber because it does it all and with a 155 grain 40cal bullet dia., it has a velocity of 1450fps. I carry 180 grain in the model 20 I sometimes carry. They you have the Ole War Horse, the .45acp and it is an extremely reliable caliber and has been for close up work for a 100 years or more. If you can handle the recoill, just a little more than a .40 cal, and don't mind purchasing ammo in large quantities because 10mm is not on all the gunstore shelfs, then go the 10mm route. I promise you that you will not regrett such a purchase.

XD-40 Subcompact

I looked at the Glock 27 as I have always been a fan and only had owned Glocks. However, when I went to look at the 27 my sales guy that I deal with showed me the Springfield XD-40 Subcompact. After he got done running down all the safety features compared to the Glock and I sat them side-by-sice the XD-40 won for me hands down. I took her to the range and it is the sweetest, very accurate, mild recoil little gun. I absolutely made the right choice, plus it just feel great in the hand compared to the G27.

Now it is not a light gun, but honestly in .40 cal I wouldn't want a light gun. It's not that bad as I have carried mine in cargo shorts pockets many times with not an issue. People confuse 'pocket carry' with 'concealed carry'. if you want a strictly light pocket carry than stick with one of the tiny .380's or a Kahr PM9. But if you are going to holster it IWB this is perfect size IMHO. To me it is the perfect compromise pistol between range work and concealed carry.

Of the two you listed, I would go glock.

If you choose to look in another direction, look into the Smith M&P compacts. I own the 9mm compact, nice as any glock, always goes bang!

Lets try this one more time going another route shall we! Now the XD-Springfield is a fine weapon no doubt. I have shot over 300 rounds through several of them but they are the new kid on the block and nobody I know of yet, has fired over 250,000 rounds through one without a problem, like GLOCK has and if you go on to the U-TUBE, you will see some real torture tests being done on the GLOCKS. Also nobody has fired an XD-Springfield under water as far as I know of yet, like the GLOCKS or H&K pistols.;) :)

This isn't for real is it? As stated I am a Glock fan, but that does not mean it is the end all be all. Who is going to fire 250,000 rounds through their pistol? Not to mention under water? I am sorry, but I don't understand your point. They are both quality pistols so it comes down to which feels better to you.

new kid on the block?????

I think not.

The original Xd, the HS2000, has been imported into this country since just that...2000. Springfield saw the potential in the weapon, and tweeked it into one of the fastes selleing greatest functioning strikers out there.

The XD is a reliable, dependable platform for a gun. It may not be around in the US as long as glock, but U-Tube torture tests do not a reliable gun make.
