A guess a week or so ago I happened on an auction on eBay for a Hawke Vantage scope. No bids on it so I threw in a minimum bid of 99 cents. Then, I completely forgot about it. I think it was on Wednesday morning that I got an email saying the auction was about to end and I was still winning.

I clicked on the listing and there was only about 90 seconds left. I decided to hedge my bet and raised my own bid to $25. I watched the timer click down and I was declared the winner with my initial, 99 cents bid. Free shipping too.

NIB Hawke Vantage 4-12x50 with illuminated #4 reticle arrived today. 馃榿
I just may have a drink or 6 to celebrate later.....馃馃馃

Super nice when we get good surprises like that.
We older fellas like to feel we can still navigate and sometimes succeed in a world we never imagined as a kid. I never saw a color TV in my home until about 1970? The younger guys here don't know that the white color travel uniforms for NFL football were so we'd know who the He** was who in a football game with B&W TVs.

As they say, "Even a blind hog...." 馃槀

For the record, I paid $1.08 with tax, delivered. I wouldn't want to deceive anyone.

Good deal on that scope. I have a Hawke 3x9 rimfire scope on my 10-22. Great little scope and very clear optics. I bought it after Sus Scrofa had recommended them. For the $1.08 you paid you got a steal.

Thanks. I have 3 other Hawke scopes and have been using them for about 4-5yrs altogether. I have a Hawke Endeavor 1-4x24 with illuminated reticle on my Sako Kodiak/.338, another on a Henry BB .45-70 (previously on a BLR .450) and a Vantage 1-4x24 with IR on my Henry BB .45C. I'm very happy with the value/$$ they've shown me. I'm not a real fan of a 50mm objective, but at the price I'm pretty sure I'll be able to accept it...LOL. I'm thinking of putting it on a nice SS Model Seven I have in 7mmSAUM.

As the old saying goes - you made out like a bandit! Congrats. At that price, you can afford to use it for a paperweight, if noting else.

I did decide to mount it on my SS Model Seven in 7mmSAUM yesterday. It fit just fine in the medium rings that previously gripped a 4-12x40 Leupold.
