After I built my house on this lovely view, I found out it was known to the locals oldtimers as "Copperhead Hill".

Well around 20 years ago, I loaded up a couple boxes of #9 shot ammo for my old ruger 357 which worked quite well.

Unfortunately  there were more copper heads than shells in the long run.  However I can't find the little shot holder cups I used back then anywhere now.  They were a simple plastic cup with a retainer disk to hold the shot in.  The cup assembly was inserted with the retainer wad first into the shell, then a tight crimp to keep the cups from moving on firing.

Does anyone know where I can buy these cups.  I have been reduced to buying ready made shotshells for my 357, and also for a model 29 44 Mag.  Thats OK but It gripes me to pay nearly a buck per copperhead!

Speer does offer empty shot capsules for the .357 and .44s.  If you can't get any, you can use gaschecks of the appropriate caliber, one cup facing up, over the powder, the other face down, over the shot. You may have to adjust the checks diameter to get them to chamber properly.
