At about 15min. after sunrise, I took an 8pt. with a 25yrd. shot from my .44 bisley Hunter. I was shooting a 280gr. WFNGC behind 11.0gr. Unique(maybe 950fps?). Thru both shoulders, just collapsed in his tracks, about a one inch hole. many thanks for advice in developing this load. I try not to do anything I'm not completely sure of, so some of my questions are borderline dumb!! One ting I am sure of: Hard Cast kill Good!!!

I would think you were north of 950 fps with 11 grains of Unique. Regardless it is amazing what hard cast bullets with wide meplats will do at moderate velocities. Did the bullet shoot through ? - I mean did you recover the bullet.

There really is not much that a hard cast 255 grain SWC at around 950 fps won't do that a gun needs to do. That is the beauty of the .45 Colt or 11.5mm as they might say in Europe. Pre-expanded is good.

Yep they arrive at the target ready to go to work. They don't have to wake up halfway thru to start getting busy.:D

Terry; Congrats! Good Job!!! I have been preaching, along with others, that those crazy hot loads are not needed in a handgun to kill something within normal handgun ranges...you are the proof of that!!! The cast bullet did exactly what it was supposed to do, and the performance was not lacking...not one bit!
