recently re- aquired my fathers old savage and am trying to re-build it. Have a new fireing pin assembly but, cannot figure out how to install it without breaking it. Any help as to sequence required etc. would be appreciated.

Sorry, I can't help with the repair but I did want to say congrats on having that neat old rifle. I have one in 30/30 that will be making it's first trip to hunt tomorrow or Thanksgiving morning.

Bout 50 years ago I installed a pin for my 219 in 22 hornet.....do not dry fire these guns! Ask me how I know this.

If you can find a disassembly guide for the savage 219/220 or even the 94 shotgun you're on your way.

I do know that a coil spring compressor is very handy to have. After turkey day I'll have a look in my books to see if there is anything that might help you.

As I recall the firing pin/striker has a small hole in it for a slip pin so the spring and bridge can be compressed for installation. And the whole works likes to go in from the left side of the frame. The bridge fits very tightly in the frame opening.
