I picked up a new Henry single shot in .44 mag. I want to reload it for deer hunting, 100 yds or less. Looking for input on loads, cast and jacketed/monolithic, and your impression of the rifle.

Thanks

You'd be hard pressed to beat a 240g Hornady XTP JHP sitting on top of 23.0g of WW296 using a mag primer. I've shot a good number of deer with this load and it has almost always made two holes...one in and one out. It has expanded well on the few I've recovered. Shooting it in a single shot rifle will give you a little heads up with the recoil.....noticeable, but manageable.

Just as NSB said, although I believe the load I shoot is 24 grains. Also, H110 is the same powder, for all intents and purposes.
