ok everyone, due to my financial situaton and my wife only letting me have three guns at a time till we graduate, i have sold one of my rifles for a new handgun.
Guns i have owned:
Desert eagle .50AE, sweetest gun in the world, ammo cost alot, sold due to costs
Walther P99c, very nice 9mm compact, gun kicked more than my buddys 45, long sold.
curretnly own no handgun, a rifle and shotty

I am now in limbo on deciding what new handgun i should buy,
a buddy recommended that plastic FN5.7, i told him i dont want a kids toy or id buy NERF. Weight of the gun doesnt matter, hence the DE, 9mm was for the wifey to shoot.
the Wifey did said i can get another DE but its quite costly.

Any ideas of any high end handguns? Thanks everyone

The FN is no "kid's toy" - just ask all the victims from the Fort Hood Shooting. Not sure what you mean by "high end" - if it is just a function of $$$ then get a Wilson Combat 1911. For me a high end gun is a Freedom Arms .45 Colt.

There's no flies on XDM or Ruger. You don't have to spend high end to get high end performance and quality.;)

More helpful to us would be to know what you want to use the gun for. We can give you answers from a Ruger Mark III to a Magnum Research Desert Eagle or BFR!

More Info Please

karl,karl,karl,.....ya gotta tell us what it will be used for. Will the shooter/owner be you?? Fun gun, range gun, hunter,SD and/or HD,used in conjunction with a CWP ?? Off the top of my head I'd say you need a Magnum Research BFR chambered in .45-70.

Come on man....lay it out. -----pruhdlr

exactly.
There are many, many fine firearms out there, new and used. There are the 'high end' Kimbers, Wilsons and STI just to think of a few, but in my eyes I'd rather have the function and fit of the firearm be more important than the price.
Some of the 'best' guns I own cost less than 300 bucks.
Stainless Ruger security six in 357 for $125
Marlin 39 for $75
My Winchester model 12 in 16 gauge for a mere$25 bucks
A Glock 23 with 3 mags for $300.

Think about what you really want, and it's intended use.

There's nothing wrong with buying and investing in 'safe queens', but the return on that investment may take a really long time.

sorry for the delay

sorry for the delay folks, well gun wil be used for range shooting, self defence, mostly range shooting and cowboy shooting. For hunting i prefer to use a rifle round. well im just looking for something new, nice and by high end i dont just mean expensive dollar amount. a high end gun are the higher quality guns, ie DE, H&K, kimbers. thus the more attention to detail and metallurgy quality usually means more costs. and jmortimer any gun can be used in an incident like that. pruhdlr i did put some thought into the S&W .500 anti bear gun. but thats just crazy haha, probly just go for a DE again if i go that route. i just shot a buddies kimber 1911, nice shoots well. never shot the wilson 1911.

hot carl if your still checking this post, here's something to think about. I have a S&W 325 PD in 44 spl. I bought at Thunder Ranch. Its a fine piece of machinery, accurate, functional and goes bang every time. I have a Taurus 2-431in 44 spl that doesnt have the sights, fit and finish but it goes bang every time and like the 325 hits where it points. The difference is about $ 1000.00. thats about 27 boxes of Blazer 200 grain Gold Dot ammo to train with.

Katie lets me buy just about any thing I want or need, she gets the same treatment. I would settle into a nice Kimber or a Wilson 1911. If you want a DA pistol buy a SIG, I have a P220 that I would take over many of the "combat" 1911s.

Karl , I still think you're confusing Quality and COST . I don't know if you've owned many " working man's guns" but it doesn't sound like it. You're missing out on increasing the size of your arsenal for the same price as one "QUALITY" gun. I own nothing but QUALITY guns!;) And I'M left with enough money to buy lots of ammo components and more QUALITY guns.:)

I like the way gunpa put it. The Springfield 1911A1 I just got is every bit as good as any Kimber, Wilson or Colt and cost 1/2 as much. My only "high end gun" is my Sendero SFII in 300RUM.

"Just as good" for some means "needs work" for others. All 1911's are not created equal, regardless of visual indications...

please read my begining posts, i am a working man whos married and is currently a student going for my masters in chemical engineering.
dont say im confused, for my composites and metaloids class my final project, i tested the metal from my friends glock .40, H&K 45 compact tactical, my walter P99c(before i sold it), my saiga12 gauge shotgun, my grandfathers 1946 45 long revolver, and the new ontario marine knife. yea im confused because a glock will never live long enough to be past down to my next generation.
inital quality = more cost= high end firearm.
i know quality vs cost, if you really want to compare a working mans gun, its a disposable glock, fairly reliable, cheap, and disposable. i can pick them up for dirt cheap if i wanted a gun i didnt care about its a good choice.
next your gonna tell me to go buy a cheap *** 200 peice of crap. you get what you pay for, would you buy a ten thousand dollar car knowing it wont last without costly repairs in the near furture or replacements?

for those who recomened the 325 thanks, i finally got to shoot one, nice, may get it. and everyone will hate me for this,
but
IF YOU HAVE NOT PURCHASED A HIGH END FIREARM OR SHOT ONE, TRY IT, AND SEE THE REAL DIFFERENCE BEWTEEN LOW END AND HIGH END FIREARMS.

ps. sigs are nice too was looking at the compact 40, my old neighboor carries it as his concield.
thanks and goodbye, and dont say **** about my wife, im sorry i have a good relationship with my wife. i agree with our gun rule, we are on a income till we graduate and aquire a higher paying job. and yes i have asked several gunsmiths, glockmonger was the first, bought my saiga from him.
