Been there and done that for the last six decades. Know how you feel and the worrying your going through. Just spent five months this year pumping water from my basement again for the second straight year. I live downstream from several dams that were built for flood control on the local river that flows about 100 yards from my house. Management of those dams by the federal government for flood control is a huge joke that only gets worse with each passing year.

CD, a few years back, I had the world come down on me from home via a Sat phone call at 0230 local. It was about the worst kind of news a father/husband can get. My chain of command did a good job getting me to Bagram and home ASAP (which as you know, still takes 5-7 days if you are in a remote area). So I been there in spades. If you need anything in particular PM and let me know. I'd be glad to help if I can.

Sounds like she'll be OK, didn't sound like a lot of water got inside. Shouldn't be a problem, just let it dry out keep the windows open and let it dry out in the next couple of days. Should be fine without doing anything major.

Kitchen floor shouldn't be carpet, and that's really the only thing an inch of water is going to screw up in so short a time. Not high enough or sitting long enough to get into walls.
