Posting for a friend.

Anybody has accurate, heavy loads for 44 Special with Lyman 429421(with square grease groove) and RCBS 44-250-K? A friend is aware of Keith load 2400-17.5 grains but would like to try something else at 44 Magnum pressure level.
He has 44 Magnum Ruger NM Blackhawk and spare cylinder from 357 Supermag (Maximum) and is going to make another cylinder for 44 Special.

If you have an idea for any other accurate 44 round that will send 240-250 SWC at 1200 fps from 5.5" barrel, he would like to hear about it. Thanks on his behalf.

Ya gotta love America, you can even load .44SP.'s to .44Mag pressures if you want to.

I have to admit, Ive owned 3 .44'S over the last 25 years, without dropping the cap on a single round of .44 Special. Not a macho thing, as the vast percent of the rounds were at .44 SP +P levels of performance, or less. I just never had any .44 Special brass. (If someone handed me a spackle bucket of .44 SP brass I'd grab it and run).

Is there an accuracy advantage? Or do you have a big pile of .44 Special laying around?

Onty -

Best I can do is 11.0 grs of Blue Dot behind a 240 gr lead SWC. This is my favorite load for my Taurus 2 inch snubbie. It does an accurate 1000 fps from the short bbl, and might approach 1150 from the 5.5 incher. This load is +P max in my 44 special, though I expect that your friend could work up from here and make 1200 fps with no problem in a strong 44 cylinder.
