How many shots should I get from a 1 lb can of alliant 2400 at 12.0-15.0 grains?

No problem. 7000 grains makes a pound.

7,000 grains in apound. 12.0 = 583 loads.

Thanks, I've just started reloading and trying to figure out how much powder to primer to bullets to get.

I wish I could say that it works out that way but it seldom does. Nothing to worry about, just lots of different bullets to try with lot of different powder.

Like has been mentioned, 7000 grains in a pound, simply divide your load weight into it and you will have a good estimate.

allow for some waste i've seldom seen a reloader not spill a little

Go to the beartooth section under balasticans corner and they have a calculator for figuring that stuff out and much more, like how much each cartridge costs to handload.
