How to tell the difference of 270 and 270 WSM

Just got a Savage 110 rifle for christmas and I have to admit I am confused. The barrel marking says 270 WIN. My wife, who bought the gun, was told it was a 270 WSM by the salesman. If it is a 270 WSM, would it be marked on the barrel? I don't want to use the wrong amo. I am hoping it is not a WSM cause the ammo aint too cheap.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

its a .270 win i am pretty sure, but to check, if it will chamber a .270 round its not a wsm
That'll do it

Thanks so much for the help.
I had a Savage in .325 WSM, and it was clearly marked as "Winchester Short Magnum"
ABSolutelY

YOU ONLY SHOOT THE AMMO THAT EXACTLY MATCHES WHATS ON THE BARREL

NOTHING WRONG WITH A 270
A 270 win won't fit into a 270 wsm chamber (too long) and a 270 WSM won't fit into a 270 Win chamber (too fat)
AND, a dealer that would sell a gun in that manner is a BUTThead!! But, perhaps that's just my opinion.....
Just another classic illustration of how sales people these days are incredibly uninformed about the products they sell. Take it to a GOOD local gun shop, explain your dilemma and ask if you can attempt to chamber a factory round of each...that should answer the question.
The barrel "HAS" to have either .270 Win, or .270 WSM stamped on it. Which is it?
