Well, he did it !!! My eleven year old son shot his first buck. It was only a spike, but to him it may as well have been a trophy 12 pt. We made a nice stalk and closed the distance to about 65 yards. He propped up my custom SKS on it's bi-pod and made a one-shot kill.
We high-fived, knuckle-bumped and hugged. I'm not sure who was more proud, him or me ? It touched my heart when he walked up on it, reached down and gently patted it on the neck. I could see both pride and saddness, the making's of a good hunter. HD1
