That is a cool-looking rack, but I'm thinking something is amiss, here. For one thing, where is the hunter's head/face? Also, the truck the deer is in seems to be in some kind of strip-mall parking lot, or something. I'm calling Photoshop, on this one.

Well... strip-mall parking lot isn't uncommon down South ;) But here is what was posted by the guy who posted the pics in the thread I stole the pics from:

Just for the record. Before I cropped the young man's face out you could see a window decal on the truck that said West Alabama, so the story seems legit. I got it in an email and there were multiple pics from different angles, so somebody would have spent some time if it were a fraud
However... looking at the pic again, if the head was just cropped off, what's left in the pic looks strange... also, the hands and feet seem to be out of proportion with the body of whoever it is...

Thinking about it and looking at it some more, yeah, I think you're right... photochop :( Oh well...

I posted in the original thread, the guy said that he had swirled out the face initially since it wasn't his pic, then decided to crop it. That's why the neck looks wierd. But, he didn't respond to my question about the proportion of the hands/feet/shoulders.

Im gonna have to call shenanigans on this one too. I have a hard time believing a deer with that body size came out of Alabama...I've shot 200+ lb Wisconsin whitetails that didnt fill up a truck bed like that.

The picture does not appear to have been altered except for the cropping and removal of the persons face. the person pictured may be of small stature but the rack is still very atypical for a white tail since the antlers are so flattened and do not appear to branch from one beam. this may be a cross bred animal. It is rare but does happen. I've also seen an animal that had one white tail antler and one Mule deer antler. that one was taken not far from the hanford nuclear reservation in WA state. :) I would bet they took the picture in the parking lot at the fish and game office. That is where I would have headed with such a specimine. awesome find. I hope they mounted at least the head.

If the deer fits the width of the pick up bed with his body length, I don't get it. So do ours, am I missing something ?, looks okay to me.

We have a fellow lives about 20 minutes away from us...has a buck just like that, literally in his back yard. Well, not just like that...it's a little wider and more squat. Easily a 170" buck. I think he has some pictures of it, actually...I'll have to talk to him. Anyway, he's not a hunter, and doesn't allow hunting...so we only get to drool at it. Early October he also had some elk move in (we don't have elk in this area), last spring he had a pair of blacktails (again, none of them here), and two or two and a half years ago he had some antelope there as well...another critter we don't have around here. They must know he'll protect them, or something. Unfortunately the blacktail buck got hit by a car only a few days after they moved in. He looked small to me, but from the pictures my brother took, we've had several folks tell us he was a trophy.

Don't care if the thing is photoshoped or not - still an interesting and good looking rack. Sort of reminds me of the giant deer that went extinct back in the ice age - they had racks like that. Maybe this is a mutant gene throwback! :D
