It has Wards Western Field stamped on the side of the receiver and on the very front underside it has the numbers 22307 K. I was told this was a Savage Model 29 from around the 1930's. Any ideas guys?

Thanks.

I have a very detailed cross-over guide and will help ya, but I need a model # from the gun:

Western Field were produced by:
Marlin
Mossberg
Savage
Colt
Glenfield
Noble
Savage fox and
Stevens.

Look and see if'n there's a model # or any other markings.

Savage's were marked with several options:

numbers
numbers and a suffix
"M" then a #
"S" then a #

Your Western Field is indeed a Savage; model 29DI.

The model 29 slide action had a 22" octagonal bbl until 1940, round on post war. Checkered pistol grip stocks on the pre war versions, plain on the later versions. They were produced from 1929-1967.

hope this helps!
