I have a repro hawkins that was given to me, that requires some rework, does any one know who made the gun, on the barrel it has a capital I with a box around it.

Sounds like we are in the same boat. I have a .45 cal with the same marks on it. I would also be grateful of anyone who could help identify this.

Google: Italian Proof Marks; then: Spanish Proof Marks

IIRC, "I" = Iberia = Spain

.

Lyman muzzleloaders also have the capital I with a box around it. It stands for Investarms of Italy. Investarms makes rifles for several brand name guns. Look under the barrel at the proof marks and see if they are Italian or Spanish.
