I just slugged to Win M-94s and a Marlin 1895 G . The M-94s were .429 and .375-376. The bullets were very easy to pop through once they got past the crown. The Marlin was at .459 and I had to tap pretty hard to get the bullet to come out the chamber. Do I purchase my bullets one size up from these measurements. They are a .375 Win and a .444 Marlin and a .45-70.

Keep in mind the throat diameters in these guns as well. The bullet must fit the throat rather closely for proper bullet alignment going into the rifling. With this in mind, here's what I would recommend for your guns:
.375 Win. .377" Bullet
.44 Mag. .432" Bullet
.45-70 .460" Bullet
You'll find that these diameters will perform optimally for you in the guns you're shooting.
Too, did you notice the tight spots in the bore when you were pushing the slugs through? Almost invariably, you'll have a tight spot under the forward magazine tube hanger (Marlins that have them) where it is dovetailed into barrel, and yet another where the rear sight dovetail is located. Many times these constrictions inhibit cast bullet accuracy, and necessitate a little lapping to relieve them for best results.

No, sizing for the Win 94BB in .444 Marlin should still be .432" for best accurracy potential. As far as bullet selection, if shooting over 1400 fps. make sure to select a gas-checked bullet, or you will experience both leading and supreme frustration! However, properly fitting, hard, gas checked bullets with a premium lube on them, you'll never look back at jacketed pills for loading this little levergun!

Marshall - one more question on bullet selection. I am going to load your 355g WLN for close range work on moose and big bears, but I also wanted to select one of your lighter bullets for work on deer and caribou out to its max range(say 150 yd). I was looking at either the 280 or 290 g bulets. I noticed one has a wider meplate, but would the other be better at the 150 yd range(better down range ballistics) and still have enough meplat for quick kills? Casey
