I was told by a Louisiana Sherriff that if a person is transporting a handgun (Any caliber any type, even without ammo) in a vehicle on a public road, and does not have a carry permit, the weapon must be secured in a safe or equivalent and not be accessible in the passenger compartment.
I was told that traveling in a SUV with a handgun poses the greatest risk of breaking the law.

If you don't want to break the law in California don't get out of bed in the morning. That is unless you're an illegal in which case you can't be prosecuted for anything because you're not a citizen!!!!!!
