Hello:

I purchased a Leupold 3.5-10 with the CDS turret a few months ago, and while I sighted it in right after the custom turret cover arrived, tonight was the first time I really got to put the system to the test.

I have it mounted on a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .308 with Talley QD rings and bases.

The load mine is setup for is the 150 gr. Fusion. I was fortunate to score several boxes at a great price so I'm able to play around with them at the range a bit.

My CDS turret is setup with its default setting at a 200 yard zero with the above load. This gets me spot on at 50 and 200 with impact just a bit high at 100.

Anyway, tonight I was able to lay prone on my mat (I hate shooting off benches with a passion) in such a position that I could see my targets at my club's 200 and 300 yard range and therefore shoot at both from one place.

The system works! I went back and forth between the 200 and 300 yard targets, firing three shot groups at each, making no allowance for drop, just by dialing up to 300 or back down to 200. The zero stays put.

Neat system, I'm pleased with it.

Truthfully I'm not sure, given that I hunt in heavy cover, if I'll ever use it in the field, but it is fun at the range.

It certainly sounds like a fine scope. I am wondering, however, which would be the better way to set up that scope for a flat shooting caliber. Most all modern cartridges are flat shooting enough to allow a MPBR of at least 200 yds, also pretty much allowing a 200yd zero and only requiring an adjustment for holdover (done by the scope) for ranges of 300 yds and further. Which would be better, a 100 yd or 200 yd zero figuring a round as flat shooting as say a 30-06/165 and "flatter"??:confused:
