No they are not brass, yes they are plated, and yes they will scratch and wear off very easily. They were not made to be a shooter. Why don't you get a 44-40 non commemorative ??

New to this furum and would like to know how the quality is on the commemoratives?

Are they goldplated or brass? If gold, does the plating come of?
