I'm looking for some loading data for .44 Mag, the Beartooth 405 grain hardcast for my Ruger Redhawk. Can use 2400, H110, H4227, Lil'Gun, Unique, as necessary. Have WLP primers and also mag primers in CCI. New Starline cases.
It is very difficult to find loading data to get me going. Extrapolation from lighter bullets is one method, of course. I would likely start out with 14-15 grains using either H110 or H4227.
I suspect this is a safe but mild load.
I am looking for a 1000 fps load for my 4" Redhawk.
Any help you can give me is appreciated.

Here is a thread I dug up. Like one of the folks who posted, I wonder if a revolver could stabilize this bad boy. My internet reloading guide has 575 loads for the 44 mag and the heaviest is for 355 grn bullets. Seems like Beartooth should have something.

The guy who did the real work in this is Grizz. Search his name out on the forum and you should be able to find his work with the 405gr bullet and his 5.5" Redhawk. He worked mostly with 2400. I developed a load for him using H-110 that went slightly faster. He tested his load out at 100 yards with good accuracy and profound penetration. Load development is very touchy with such a heavy bullet. Max velocity with 2400 was around 975 fps with a 5 1/2" bbl.

I don't know what will happen with your shorter 4" barrel. After you look over Grizz's work, pm him and get his thoughts.
