I shot a 45 acp dbl. eagle the other week and really liked how it handled. However, I can't handle the price tag :D Is there a similarly designed/handling dbl action 45 acp pistol, that is less expensive, that I can/should look into?

God Bless,

Although I have not shot the .45s myself, the CZ pistols are well reguarded and less expensive. So are the
Ruger P90 and P97. I would not buy a Colt Double Eagle unless I was a collector.

The Double Eagle was a pistol that was made before it's time, but the prices are out of hand for a shooter. If you think the .45's are bad, you should see what they get for a 10mm. The Para Ordinance LDA might be another option for you to look into. I've shot a couple of them and was very impressed with the trigger pull compared to any other double action auto I've fired. The price of the Para would also be much easier to swallow than a DE.
