I have a Magnum Research Lone Eagle single shot in 44 magnum. It is in fine shape and shoots probably as accurately as I can. However, after reading an article on how a trigger job for this gun could possibly cause marked improvement in accuracy, I am considering having this done. Ballpark, what should I expect to pay a gunsmith here in North Carolina to have this done?

Here is Brownell's shop price survey for this year. It will give you an idea of prices for varied survices for almost any kind of gun work you would want done.

Usually improving the trigger pull on any weapon will make it easier to shoot improving accuracy. I would caution you to not go to light on a trigger for hunting purposes. I like to keep both my hunting rifles and pistols for big game around 3.5 pounds and varmit target rifles around 2.5 pounds.

You did such a fine job on the listing, decided to stick it here for a while so others may see - someone is always asking how much for this or that type of gunsmithing work. This should explain things much better than a dozen answers to the same question.

Thanks for your effort on it.

Always glad to help out the folks whom like to shoot, hunt and fish. As I get older the only thing I really have to pass on is what little wisdom I have gained from others.

Thanks for the kudo

Where are you from in NC? I live in Asheboro and if you are close I can point you in the right direction. My gunsmith is very reasonable and does excellent work.

I also know a few from all over the state that can help you out.

IMO.......just keep shooting and you shouldn't have to pay a gunsmith for anything.

"A trigger job" does nothing at all to make the gun more accurate. The question is, could you shoot the gun better if the trigger was changed. Your pistol might have a great trigger that can't be improved on as it is now. What is the pull and is it 'clean' breaking or does it have creep?

Kinda said it all yourself

"It shoots as well as I can". Not to rob gunsmiths of work but light triggers are now ALL THE RAGE, with people having them done before ever firing a shot. The old saying "if it ain't broke" comes to mind.

Sorry as all get out, the Lone Eagle has a crazy system. I managed to get it better. If any gunsmith can do it power to them.
A wonderful gun as accurate as any rifle but the trigger is an abortion. There is almost no way to fix it. I really did make it better but won't tell how since failure is too close.
