havent seen a guide gun up close. are the tangs of the guide gun the same as the cowboy? im thinkiing they are but want to be sure.

The 1895 and the 336 use the same receiver, just milled a bit differently. Tangs are pretty much the same. Even with the 1894, CB mostly means an octagon barrel.

IIRC, the 1895/336 Cowboy receivers/tangs differ from non-Cowboy 1895/336 receivers/tangs in that the CB/Cowboy model's receivers are not D/T'd on top (prepped) for scope mounts, and their serial numbers moved from the tang to the side of the receiver and the tangs D/T'd (perpped) for a tang sight.

May have mis-interpreted but the tangs on my 95 Cowboy and 336 38-55 are not drilled for tang sights.

Since "IIRC" means "If I Recall Correctly", maybe I didn't. :p

That wouldn't be the first time, and probably won't be the last, either. ;)
