Take the fore-end off! The entire mechanism is right there, but the wood is what holds the latch in place.

I do not see the Barrel Lock. It may be possible that someone tightened the barrel in order to fire the rifle. I purchased one several years ago that had the barrel lock missing. Located one at Numrich gun parts. Fascinating little rifle. I did have to replace the butt stock as the previous owner had twisted the rifle so hard, he broke the wood.

Somebody took off the fore-end and the latch fell out and as lost. Carefully turn the nut counter clockwise to loosen the barrel enough to give it a half twist. the serrated nut is only a moveable shoulder for the barrel. The latch is a wedge that engages a notch in the nut. Without the wood in place, the latch slides out of engagement and lost in the same motion. In the bottom of the latch is a spring and detent, also.
I'd LOVE to find one with missing or broken parts to remodel into an idea I have.
