A friend of mine has a Model 70 with stainless receiver and barrel but in a supergrade style stock (with the ebony tip forearm and check piece stock). It is in .270 Winchester and he claims it is a mountain rifle by Winchester. I can't find anything on this model or on this SS with wood with ebony tip stock. Anyone have info on this model?

Thanks,

I'll let you know after I see it Saturday. He also has a Model Supergrade SS in 300 WSM but this .270 in NIB and I'm intersted in it. Must be a Custom of some sort. I will post this weekend after I look and handle the rifle. Yes ... to your question <G>

Hey guys and thanks for the input. I looked at this rifle over the weekend and turn it down. The rifle was USED and not up to my standards for my collection. Stock had several dings. The Stainless rifle has what appeared a supergrade stock but no evidence of SUPER GRADE anywhere on it. Even the pistol grip cap was blank. I was told that Wincheater did build some of these and call them Mountion Rifle but I can not prove it. The owner was asking $1500 for it and I declined.
