i have a purchased a Model 94 trapper with a 16 inch barrel on it.
The front sight is broken off.
When i look about ordering one, i see different heights ranging from .431 to .455.
Cam someone tell me which is the best or the original?
Thanks
its a 30-30

Can you please tell us what caliber it is, and what rear sight it wears?

And tell us what kind of front sight it has.

rear sight is one that slides up and down in notches
front side appears to dovetail in and out is broken off
appears to have been shaped like bookends slid together

My .30-30 Winchester 94 Trapper's front sight was mounted directly in a barrel dovetail.

The issue front sight was .450", so I would suggest ordering the .451" tall sight.

A new front sight will likely need some file work to fit. Be sure to file the sight, not the barrel dovetail. I usually file the bottom of the sight until I get a very tight fit (known as a press fit).

You can't beat those Lyman receiver sights pictured. I have one on my 35 year old 30/30 Trapper.
