That is a great Tech note. Lee keeps moving the ball on the "Custom Work" from this past spring, to this fall, and now 1-1-2014. Happy New Year, we shall see. As for the handgun FCDs, if you use cast bullets, you will have to open them up, unless you want your cast bullet swaged down. I have mine opened up by a machinist, but it is easy to do yourself. The Handgun FCD is a different animal from the Rifle FCD, which is a "collet style." Ranch Dog used to sell the "collet style" for handguns but he is mostly out of the game. Right now you can get a "collet style" from Lee Precision Custom Services for .357 only. Very good ideas. Thanks for the link to your Tech Notes.

In the Hoosier state of IN, a slightly shortened (by .120") 35 Remington cartridge meets the legal guidelines for a rifle cartridge used for deer hunting. This results in a rather short neck but modifying a Lee FCD, as shown in this Tech Note, gives you the ability to crimp bullets in place and eliminate much of the concern over that shorter neck.
